He married Ida Nella Stout on Sept. 10, 1921 (by Rev S.T. Willocks -per Wanda Phelps). They had four sons and five daughters. Their first daughter, Gladys, died while an infant. In the 1920's he was an iceman delivering ice by wagon pulled by a horse. Also over the years he had vaious jobs. In 1946 he worked at the atomic energy plant in Oak Ridge, Tenn., and later at ALCOA. Most of all, and later in life, he was a farmer. (per Wanda Carter, 6/2002). One of Daniel's sons is Ralph Eugene Carter who is a yDNA match with Guy Carter.
