Obituary of Lulu Belle
Hugie made liquor all his life. His boys took it into town to sell. He had a massive stroke and was bed riddren for a llong time. She told her children that after Hugie died, any of her children who came to live with her and took care of her for the rest of her life, she would give them the farm. It was given to Virginia and her heirs. Virginia still lives in the old log house. SOI: Madeline Fulp

SOI: Madeline Fulp - Gave his property to Uncle Kern (Col. Beldin). Kern's son was named Belt rather than Beldin. Robert, Sr was born on Old 5 - the early Fulp Homeplace (which is still in good condition as I have been thru it). It was built as one of the first old Fulp homeplaces by either Peter or Michael.

Robert married Elmira WALKER. Elmira was born about 1841 in NC. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Death notice from the 2-17-1876 "Peoples Press" (Salem, NC) 1851-1892 gives the following account of Peter's death. "Fulp, Peter, of Forsyth Co, the father of Joseph Fulp, burned to death, Feb. 11, 1876. Mr Fulp was very feable, upwards of 80 yrs of age, and in the habit of resting on a pallet near the fire, from choice. When the house he was in was discovered to be on fire, his son's family hastened to the rescue but on opening the door found the inside all ablaze; it was impossible to enter and Peter Fulp perished in the flames. It is supposed the fire communicated to the bed and the old man could not make his escape."
Note: Glenn McGee in discussion with Vestal Fulp said he had read that Peter burned to death when sparks from a train set his roof on fire. I must go with the death notice in Peoples Press.
