They left GA around 1844 and moved to Desoto, MS. They had ten children in 26 years. He died in 1878 in DeSoto, Mississippi, at the age of 61.

DeSoto County changed to Tate County in 1873.

Edward Carter was born on September 8, 1785, in Mecklenburg, Virginia. He married Mary Kidd and they had four children together. Mary died and he then married Sarah Carter on July 29, 1811. Sarah died and he married Milly Wright on 9 Aug 1849. He died on April 5, 1877, in Walton, Georgia, at the impressive age of 91, and was buried there.
