    "In 1841 Henry Stout Sr. bought land on 6 mile Creek; in 1853 Henry Stout sold to Asa Watson, owner of Mountvale Springs, and an agreement was made that as Watson had $865.00 of his money he should live on it his lifetime using firewood as needed. In 1860 Henry Stout gave 50 acres land to "the wife of Samuel Stout", no name, no claim as to relationship." From Will E.     Pension Deposition: [Keziah GENTRY WRIGHT STOUT, widow of Henry STOUT, submitted her application to receive a Widow's Pension based on Henry's service in the War of 1812. Abstracted:]
    "...November, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and Seventy eight... Kizziah Stout...a resident of Stoney Creek, in the State of Tennessee Carter County...declares that she is the widow of Henry Stout deceased...a private in the Company commanded by Captain William Naileys in the Virginia Regiment of Militia...in the war of 1812...she was married to the said Henry Stout...in 7th Civil District, in the county of Johnson, and in the State of Tennessee, on the 8th day of March A.D. 1861 by one H.P. Murphy...; and that her name before her said marriage was Kizziah Wright; and she further states that said Stout had a former wife by the name of Dolen who died many years ago but don't know when or where and that her said husband Henry Stout, died on Stoney Creek, in the State of Tennessee Carter Co., on the 26th day of October A.D. 1878; and she further declares that the following have been the places of residence of herself and her said husband since the date of his discharge from the Army, viz; in Johnson & Carter County Tennessee since their said marriage before she

    Notes:

    Captain Daniel or Godfrey Daniel Stout of the Revolutionary War was, according to family tradition, of
    German descent and came from Pennsylvania through the Shenandoah Valley to Sullivan County, Tennessee and
    settled on the left bank of the Holston River near the mouth of Jacobs Creek; spring on right bank (a Mr. Dogget
    lives at the same place now). The house was still standing up to a few years ago. (Date of writing 1933).
    On the Register's Books in Carter County deeds are executed by Godfrey Daniel or Daniel Stout, conveying
    land to his sons and sons-in-law.
    He and his wife, Catherina, are buried in a country cemetery in a community known as "Little Doe". The
    cemetery is now called the Asa Shoun Cemetery.

    Godfrey was enlisted in the Revolution from Pennsylvania. After the war he migrated south through Shenandoah Valley, Virginia to the present Johnson County, Tennessee.

    He was a Captain during the Revolutionary War. He took the oath of Allegiance and Fidelity in Frederick County, Virginia in 1777. (Blue Book of Schuylkill County, by Mrs. Ella Zerby Elliot, p. 105. Soldiers & Patriots of the American Revolution Buried in Tennessee, p. 374., DAR no. 195549)

    I DO hereby certify, that DANIEL STOUT hath taken and subscribed the oath of affirmation of alleigance and fidelity, as directed by an act of General Assembly intitled An act to oblige the free male inhabitants of this state above a certain age to give assurance of allegiance to the Same, and for other purposes. Witness my hand and seal, this 10th day of August 1777.

    The above is a true copy of the record of allegiance as made by Daniel Stout before Abrm. Smith, who was acting for the government, as evidence by the last three letters which apparently form a seal of some sort. Except 8 for the names and dates the form appears in print. This original paper is in the possession of a descendant of Daniel Stout, J. H. Pierce, County Supt. of Schools, Mountain City, Tenn.

    A Daniel Stout paid taxes in 1794 in Washington County , North Carolina, later known at Johnson County, Tennessee.

    Godfrey Daniel lived in Pandora, Tennessee. They had a large log house on the banks of Doe Creek, which he had deeded to his son, Major David D. Stout.

    Godfrey died in the log house. He is buried in the Asa Shoun cemetery on the right of Tennessee highway 67, below Pandora.

    WFT #1391 - Godfrey changed his German surname Staudt to Stout. Godfrey thought Stout sounded more American. Godfrey's wife left a will in Johnson County, Tennessee (Will book 1, pg 27, dated September 26, 1843, pvd. April term 1846).

    Catherine Stauten born Boltzen, was born in the year 1755, the 21st of March, in the county of Shenandoah, Virginia. Her father is Johann Peter Boltzen and her mother Maria Elishabetha Boltzen, born Mintzin.
    The parents are donating this book to their daughter for her memory and to remind her that she shall remember her parents and shall pray incessently to God and shall remember also that she has been baptised, also that she will not betray and will not abandon the truths of God and so that she will not come into wrong doing, for you should have all your life long God before your eyes and in your heart, and you shall be ware yourself not to agree to any sin or act against the commands of God.

    Recorded on a Fly Leaf at the beginning of a second section of the book:
    Catherine Stauten born Boltzen got married to her husband Daniel Stauten in the year 1772, the 3rd of March.

    Daniel, along with his family and son Peter (from his first marriage) immigrated to Pennsylvania, America on the ship Glasgow on September 9, 1738. He took the oath of allegiance along with his son Peter. Daniel's age was listed as 45 and Peter's as 17.

    Daniel's will was dated April 6, 1769, and pvd August 7, 1770 in Fredrick County, Virginia. That part of Virginia later became known as Shenandoah County, Virginia.

    Frederick County, Virginia; Will Book 4 WILL OF DANIEL STOUT; dated 26 Oct 1769 proved 7 Aug 1770. In the name of God, Amen, I DANIEL STOUT of Frederick County in the Colony of Virginia being weak in body and of sound memory this twenty sixty day of October, in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven and sixty nine make and publish my Last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) first I give to my three sons Viz GOODFRIED DANIEL, JOHN & GEORGE BENJAMIN STOUT my Tract of Land situated on Stony Creek in Frederick County in the Colony of Virginia to each of them one hundred & fifty acres more or less and first I give to my son GEORGE BENJAMIN STOUT his heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns one hundred & fifty acres of Land more or less it being the upper part of my Tract of Land whereon I now live in Frederick County in the Colony of Virginia from Godlip Links line down Stony Creek with all Buildings and Improvements that is thereon and my Wife, ELIZABETH STOUT, & my two sons, JOHN & GEORGE BENJAMIN STOUT shall keep house together also on that Part of the Land whereon I now live as long as they can agree and my Wife is Willing to keep house and also, I give all my Personal Estate Chattle and household goods and the grain that is now in the field to my Wife ELIZABETH STOUT and to my two sons JOHN and GEORGE BENJAMIN STOUT and if my Wife cant keep house any longer, my son GEORGE BENJAMIN STOUT his heirs Executors and Administrators or Assigns or whoever has possession of the Land I give him, shall give to my said Wife ELIZABETH yearly and every year During her natural life, five bussels of Wheat and six bussels of Rie and fifty pounds of corn and Sow a Quarter of an acre of ground with flax seed and keep her proper use one mare become on his own proper cost and my wife ELIZABETH STOUT send my two sons JOHN and GEORGE BENJAMIN STOUT to school until they have sufficient Schooling.     At a Court held for Frederick County August 7th 1770 this Last Will and Testament of DANIEL STOUT Dec'd was Proved by the Oathes of Curtiss Sink & George Weaver witnesses thereto and ordered to be Recorded at the Motion of Elizabeth Stout the Executrixe who made Oath thereto Certificate granted her for obtaining a Probate thereof in due form the giveing Security Whereupon she together with Curtis Sink & Jacob Wolf Junr. entered into & acknowledged a Bond in the Penalty of Two Hundred Pounds conditioned for her due and faithful Administration of said Estate.     In the Name of God Amen, I, PETER VOLTZ of the County of Shenandoah and State of Virginia, being weak and infirm in my body, but of sound mind and disposing memory (for which I thank God), and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life, and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me with... I give and bequeath the same in manner following that is to say, I give and bequeath unto my son GEORGE VOLTZ his Heirs and assigns forever, all my plantation and lands whereon I myselft and my son GEORGE now live in the county of Shenandoah on the drains of Stony Creek containing two hundred and eight acres to be the same more or less..to wit.. two tracts or surveys the one containing one hundred and forty eight acres and the other sixty acres..it being the same plantation and lands which I purchased of Michael SHOEMAKER, with, all and singular the apurtenances thereunto belonging, subject nevertheless to the payment of the specific legacies which I shall herein-after give to my nine daughters and to the children of my daughter ELIZABETH STICKLY, dec'd. Item I give and bequeath unto each of my daughters to wit, MARY the wife of John WILLFANG, CATHARINE the wife of DANIEL STOUT, MARGARET the wife of George DELLINGER, MAGDALENE the wife of Emanuel DELLINGER, SUSANNAH the wife of Henry HOSHAUR, ROSINAH the wife of Jacob HELSLEY, Junr., and BARBARA the wife of George ANDERICK and their Heirs the sum of ten Dollars and I also give ten Dollars to the Children of my daughter ELIZABETH STICKLY, dec'd. to be equally divided amongst them and my son son GEORGE VOLTZ or whosoever possess the plantation and lands, I have hereby given him as above mentioned shall pay the same in the following manner to wit: ten dollars which I have given my eldest daughter MARY WILLFANG he shall pay within twelve months after my decease, and then he shall pay ten dollars that is to say one legacy every year afterwards untill the whol ten legacies are fully paid always perferring the eldest of my said daughters before the younger in paying the said legacies. But if either of my said daughters should die no Child or Children after her death, then my said son GEORGE VOLTZ his Heirs and assigns Shall not be obiled to pay that legacy if he has not paid it before such death. Item all my wearing apparel and my Books I give and bequeath unto my three sons namely, JOSHUA VOLTZ, JOSEPH VOLTZ, and the said GEORGE VOLTZ to be equally divided amongst them, and after payment of what nature or kine 'soever it may be, not herein before particularly disposed of, I desire may be equally divided among all my Children herein before named which I give to them their Heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns forever. And Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my said son JOSHUA VOLTZ sole Executor of this my last Will & Testaments by me heretofore made, Ratifying this and no other to be my last Will & Testament.     • Death: Their last child was born in 1774. Catharina's prayer book says that she recieved the book from her parents on 02 Sep 1790. Since she isn't mentioned in Peter's will, it can be assumed that Elisabeth died after September 1790 but before 05 Jun 1807.
