Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Pegg, Paxton & Springer Beaverton Chapel for Paul Berton Phelps, 4950 SW 139th Ave., Beaverton, a Portland-area resident for 50 years who died Tuesday in a Portland hospital. He was 64. A member of Teamsters Local 81, Mr. Phelps was a retired truck driver. He was born in Amity June 2, 1912. Surviving are his wife, Betty; children Elaine Olson, Aloha, Carol Jean Gilgan, Troutdale, and Glen Phelps, Aloha; his father, Charles Phelps, Portland; and four grandchildren.
Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center f or liver research.

Charles was shown in 1942's "U.S. World War II Fourth Registration Draft Cards" database as being married to Hilda E. There were no kids
from his 2nd marriage. I just updated Charles' information to show he died in the Washington County part of Portland, not the Multnomah County part.
I never heard him called anything other than Poppa. Even the neighbors called him that.
