He was a decorated WWI Vet and served as a Sargent in the 328 Infantry, 82 Division. He worked for the ILL Central RR and was killed by a train on the job at age 56. He left a widow and a 19 year old son. His mother's (Clementine) obituary from 1942 placed him in Illinois in 1942.
