Juanita said that her grandfather, Daniel Richard Phelps held her Grandmother, Sarah Jane Lebow, on his lap when she was a baby. He said that he was going to marry her someday and he did when she was 16 years old and he was 45 after he came home from the Civil War.
Juanita said Dr Lovingood bought the Phelps homestead including what was later called the Lovingood springs. For many years, he gave free shots to school children at this popular spring.
She and brother Jerrod did the milking on the farm.
Bill Jackson drew a sketch of the "Mike Phelps" knife and made two that were identical (Dan Phelps has these two knives).
Rosa's mother was part Indian and she would squat rather than sit in a chair.
While working in TX, father, Esco would plow a team of horses and one loop around the field would take all day.
Rosa taught She and brother Edward their first cords on a guitar.
Esco worked on the Fontana Dam Project
Sarah Jane packed a lunch and took the family to church every Sunday.
Esco sent for Rosa, Edna and Geneva to come to TX. When the train made a stop on their way, a couple tried to steal one of them away.
