  Note from Sharon Alexander Bond Grandmother (Ida Lou Williams) used to tell the story of how Ray almost died as an infant because he couldn't keep food down. My grandfather(Raymer Phelps Peters Sr) always loved to snack on cheese and crackers. While snacking one evening, Granddaddy gave Ray a tiny bit of cheese...he ate it and kept it down. Grandmother then fed him cheese every day with little bits of cracker and he thrived. Strange how you remember little stories like that! He was the FBI man, for sure. He was an avid photographer, artist, naturalist, and an engineer. (Purdue University) The painting you see above the two of them is one of his. One hangs in the FBI offices in Washington DC. Ray and Shirley had a beautiful daughter named Nora Ray who died in 1965 when she was 18. She was hit by a drunken driver. Shirley died in her sixties of a brain tumor. Doug has one son, Ryan. Uncle Ray died of Alzheimer's about five years ago. He was an avid photographer, artist, naturalist, and an engineer. One of his paintings hangs in the FBI offices in Washington DC. ~~~~~~ Sharon Alexander Bond writes Uncle Ray(Raymer Phelps Peters Jr) was a small man who had great courage...His son,( Raymer) Douglas Peters, lives in Phoenix, AZ. We went to see him 18 months ago and I'll send pictures soon. He has been very successful...very much like his father. He's an engineer and is as meticulous as his dad. Wonderful sense of humor, too. Strange how you remember little stories like that!
