12 Jun 1733; Margaret Miller of Charles Co., widow, made deed of gift of 200 acres to Barton Hungerford; which she obtained by deed 13 Jun 1688 from William Barton, Gentleman, granted William Hungerford and Margaret his wife, daughter of said William Barton and to the heirs of her body; now the sole property of Margaret; tracts called "Barton's Woodyard" of 100 acres and "Capell" of 100 acres at the head of Wicomico River (Charles County Land Records M#2.343).
Charles County Circuit Court and Land Records R:537. 10 Jun 1688... Between William Barton of Charles County in ye Province of Maryland, Gentleman of ye one part and William Hungerford of ye aforesaid County and Province, planter, and Margarett his wife ye naturall borne daughter of ye said William Barton of ye other part Witnesseth that ye said William Barton for and in consideration of that naturall love and fatherly affection which he hath and allways doth beare towards ye said Margarett has naturall borne daughter ye wife of ye said William Hungerford... grant... all that parcell of land called Barton's Woodyard 100 acres more or less and allso that tract of land called Capell containing and now laid out for 100 acres more or less... to have and hold ye aforesaid two parcells ... unto ye said William Hungerford and Margaret his wife during their naturall lives and to ye heirs of her body lawfully begotten or to be begotten forever (and in case of default of such issue then ye aforesaid two tracts of land revert to ye said William Barton and his heirs)... memorandum that on the thirteenth day of June ... before us underwritten .... Commissioners ..... William Barton and Mary his wife doe acknowledge .... Witnessed by Randolph Hinson and John Addison. Signed by William Barton and Mary (her mark) Barton.
