  1. 1.  David D. STOUTT was born on 11 Nov 1790 in Sullivan, Tennessee; died on 11 Apr 1888 in Johnson County, Tennessee; was buried in Stout Cemetery/Tennessee.

    Notes:

    Johnson County, Tennessee was established by the legislature of Tennessee out of the upper part of Carter County. It is in the extreme northeastern portion of the state. In the days when men had to cut their way through the mountains it was the "gateway" into Tennessee. General James Robertson came down Roane Creek, and stopped at the cain of Honeycutt for some time, on his first trip.

    During the next twenty years and before 1798, along Roane Creek and Little Doe River is found the names of others:

    pp. 171 & 172 DEED. 40 Acres. NICHOLAS GRINDSTAFF to DAVID STOUT. Registered Mar. 16th 1840.
    I, Nicholas Grindstaff have this day bargained and sold, and do hereby transfer and convey to David Stout of Rones Creek and his heirs forever, for the consideration of one hundred dollars to me paid a tract of land in the State of Tenessee Johnson County and district number 5 containing by estimation forty acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows. Beginning on a chestnut sprout with pointers near Nicholas Grindstaffs line about five poles from a white oak corner to Nicholas Grindstaff Junr. and George P. Stout, thence running
    south fifty two de. east eighty three poles to a hickory & maple with pointers on the side of the Mountain, thence south sixty de. west ninety poles to a double read oak with pointers corner to said entry, thence a direct course to the beginning, to have and to hold the same to the said David Stout his heirs and assigns forever. I do covenant with the said David Stout that I am lawfully seized of said land, and have a good right and title to convey it and that the same is unincumbered. I do further covenant and bind myself my heirs and representatives to warrant and defend the title to the said land and every part thereof to the said David Stout his heirs and assigns against the lawfully claim of all persons whatsoever, this the 17th day of January 1838.

    LAST WILL & TESTAMENT OF D. D. STOUT, Decd.
    State of Tennessee Johnson County, June 16th 1881
    In the name of God Amen. I David D. Stout of the County of Johnson and state of Tennessee being of Sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainly of this frail transitory Life do therefore make ordain. publish. and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament that is to say. First after all my Lawful debts are paid and discharged the residue of my estate real and personal. I give bequeath of as follows. to wit.
    First. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Anna Stout all the Land and personal property that I may die seized and possessed fo during her natural Lifetime and then after her death to be divided equally between my daughter Eliza and my son Abraham. Second after willing the balance of my children what I have already give them. I give and bequeath to my son Samuel Stout One Dollar in Lawful money of the United States. Third I give and bequeath to my son Alfred One Dollar Lawful money of the United States. Fourth I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Shuffield One Dollar Lawful money of the United States. Fifth I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Campbell One Dollar in Lawful money of the United States. Sixth I give and bequeath to my son Godfrey D. Stout One Dollar in Lawful money of the United States. Seventh I give and bequeath to my son George W. Stout One Dollar in Lawful money of the United States. Eighth I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Arnold One Dollar in Lawful money of the United States. Ninth I give and bequeath to my daughter Barbara Howard One
    Dollar in Lawful money of the United States. Tenth I give and bequeath to my daughter Dicy Garland One Dollar Lawful money of the United States. Eleventh I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Jordan One Dollar in Lawful money of the United States. Likewise I make constitue and appoint William A. Morely to be executor of this my Last Will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
    In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal. This June 16th 1881.

    The above written instrument was subscribed by the said David D. Stout in our presence and acknowledged by him to each of us and he at the same time published and declared the above instrument so subscribed to be his Last Will and Testament and we at the testators request and in his presence have signed our names as witnesses hereto and written opposite our names our respective places of residence This June the 16th 1881.
