1702 | Peter FULP was born in May 12 1757 in Windsor Township York, County, Pennsylvania. He served in the military in 1776 in North Carolina. The data which follow were obtained from papers on file in the pension claim, p. 5278, based upon the military service of Peter Fulp. While living in Surry County, North Carolina, he enlisted and served as private with the North Carolina troops as follows: from January, February or March, 1776, three months in Captain Richard Goode's Company in Colonel Joseph Williams' Regiment; from sometime in the summer of 1776, four months in Captain Goode's Company in Colonel Williams' Regiment on an expedition against the Cherokee Indians; next he served three months under Captain Shepperd and was in the battle of Kings Mountain; in 1781, three months in Captain Minor Smith's Company in Colonel James Martin's Regiment and was discharged soon after the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown. It is stated that Peter Fulp was the brother of the soldier, Michael Fulp. A. D. HILLER Assistant to Administrator. He appeared on the census in 1790 in Stokes County, North Carolina. One male under 16; four females; no slaves. He appeared on the census in 1800 and 1810 in Stokes County, North Carolina. He died in Jun 1814 in Stokes County, North Carolina. Peter was a farmer as was his father, George. Peter apparently became swept up in the land speculation activity that was prevalent in Stokes and surrounding counties during the late 1700's. By 1797, his holdings had reached in excess of 1500 acres. He was married to Elizabeth RAPER on 5 Mar 1785 in Surry County, North Carolina. Elizabeth RAPER was born in May 1761. She appeared on the census in 1820 in Stokes County, North Carolina. She died after 1839. She was allowed Peter's Rev. War Pension on 13 Jun 1839 in Stokes County, North Carolina. In the Rev. War Pension application of Elizabeth Fulp, wife of Peter who was brother to Michael and son of George, she states "they had ten children Born of her body in the order as the dates stand stated in the Family Records which is cut out of a German Testament and is enclosed in this declaration.
