830	By Rev W. Hill Now Stokes Co NC Record of age in bible Michael FULP was born on Apr 17, 1755 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He moved to Surry Co., NC and later served in the military in 1776. He enlisted and served as a private with the North Carolina troops as follows: in 1776, four months in Captain William Dobson's Company in Colonel Joseph Williams' Regiment on an expedition against the Cherokee Indians; from July, 1781, three months in Captain David Humphreys' Company in Colonel James Martin's Regiment. He was allowed pension on his application executed March 15, 1833, at which time he was living in Stokes County, which was formerly a part of Surry County, North Carolina. His military papers state that he was the brother of soldier, Peter Fulp. Michael Fulp appeared on the census in 1790 in Stokes County, North Carolina with four males under 16; five females and no slaves. He appeared on the census in 1800, 1810 and 1820, in Stokes County, North Carolina. He was married to Phebe SCOTT on 20 Aug 1777 in Surry County, North Carolina. They were married at the home of Baptist Minister, Rev. William Hill, in Surry County, NC. Phebe SCOTT was born on 24 Oct 1758. She was allowed Michael's Rev. War Pension on 13 Dec 1838 in Stokes County, North Carolina. Michael and Phebe Fulp had the following children: George Jeny (Jane) Phebe Sally Solomon Elizabeth Peter Mary (Polly) Anna Michael Abigail Valentine Phebe Scott Fulp died in Aug 1840 in Stokes County, North Carolina. 844	Captain Daniel or Godfrey Daniel Stout of the Revolutionary War was, according to family tradition, of German descent and came from Pennsylvania through the Shenandoah Valley to Sullivan County, Tennessee and settled on the left bank of the Holston River near the mouth of Jacobs Creek; spring on right bank (a Mr. Dogget lives at the same place now). The house was still standing up to a few years ago. (Date of writing 1933). On the Register's Books in Carter County deeds are executed by Godfrey Daniel or Daniel Stout, conveying land to his sons and sons-in-law. He and his wife, Catherina, are buried in a country cemetery in a community known as "Little Doe". The cemetery is now called the Asa Shoun Cemetery. _____________________________________ Godfrey Daniel Stout is buried in "Asa Shoun." On his stone it is written Godfrey Daniel Stout, born Nov. 23, 1757...died April 2, 1846 Prected by Descendant Godfrey was enlisted in the Revolution from Pennsylvania. After the war he migrated south through Shenandoah Valley, Virginia to the present Johnson County, Tennessee. He was a Captain during the Revolutionary War. He took the oath of Allegiance and Fidelity in Frederick County, Virginia in 1777. (Blue Book of Schuylkill County, by Mrs. Ella Zerby Elliot, p. 105. Soldiers & Patriots of the American Revolution Buried in Tennessee, p. 374., DAR no. 195549) I DO hereby certify, that DANIEL STOUT hath taken and subscribed the oath of affirmation of alleigance and fidelity, as directed by an act of General Assembly intitled An act to oblige the free male inhabitants of this state above a certain age to give assurance of allegiance to the Same, and for other purposes. Witness my hand and seal, this 10th day of August 1777. Abrm. Smith (STF) The above is a true copy of the record of allegiance as made by Daniel Stout before Abrm. Smith, who was acting for the government, as evidence by the last three letters which apparently form a seal of some sort. Except 8 for the names and dates the form appears in print. This original paper is in the possession of a descendant of Daniel Stout, J. H. Pierce, County Supt. of Schools, Mountain City, Tenn. Signed: N. M. Vaught My commission expires July 17, 1935 A Daniel Stout paid taxes in 1794 in Washington County , North Carolina, later known at Johnson County, Tennessee. Godfrey Daniel lived in Pandora, Tennessee. They had a large log house on the banks of Doe Creek, which he had deeded to his son, Major David D. Stout. Godfrey died in the log house. He is buried in the Asa Shoun cemetery on the right of Tennessee highway 67, below Pandora. World Family Tree #1331 states birth as 11-23-1750 and death as 1-13-1845. World Family Tree #1091 states birth as 11-3-1750 and death as 1-3-1845. WFT #1391 - Godfrey changed his German surname Staudt to Stout. Godfrey thought Stout sounded more American. Godfrey's wife left a will in Johnson County, Tennessee (Will book 1, pg 27, dated September 26, 1843, pvd. April term 1846). 1830 Census Carter Co. 845	Carl Friedrich Volpp immigrated to America abroad the SS Fulda from Bremen, Germany. He departed Bremen on April 7, 1887 and arrived in New York on April 22, 1887. According to his naturalization certificate # 1106889 from Marion County (Indianapolis), Indiana, he and his wife Katrina were both born in Cuettlinger, Germany.
